Bruce R. Winson, CFA
Bruce launched Anson Funds’ original long-short equity fund, Anson Capital, in January 2003. In mid-2007, Bruce and Moez co-founded Anson Funds Canada and launched Anson’s second fund, Saunders Capital. In December 2009, Anson Capital and Saunders Capital were combined to form Anson Investments—currently Anson’s flagship fund. Bruce serves as portfolio manager of Anson Investments. Prior to launching Anson Funds, Bruce worked as an equity analyst at Paragon Associates JV, a Dallas-based long-short equity fund from late 1997 through the end of 2002. Before Paragon, Bruce worked in management consulting and systems consulting in the USA, Europe, and Singapore. Bruce earned a BA in Economics and Russian from Vanderbilt University in 1988, he obtained an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994, and earned the CFA charter in 2000.

Moez Kassam, MBA
Moez co-founded Anson Funds Canada with Bruce and launched Anson’s second fund, Saunders Capital, in 2007. In 2009, Anson Capital and Saunders Capital were combined to form Anson Investments—currently Anson’s flagship fund. Moez currently advises Anson Funds, responsible for investment strategy, idea generation, trading, and overall investment performance. Moez is an executive member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and sits on the advisory boards of the Immigrant Access Fund and Kids Cook to Care. He has a BA from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from London Business School (LBS).
Adam Spears, CFA
Adam joined Anson Funds in early 2010 as a principal. Adam currently advises Anson Funds, responsible for investment strategy, idea generation, trading, and overall investment performance. Prior to joining Anson Funds, Adam worked at Canada’s largest private equity firm, Onex Corporation, where he was a member of ONCAP Management Partners, a middle-market private equity fund focusing on buyouts of businesses with values of between $50 and $300 million. Prior to Onex, Adam worked at Citigroup in the Investment Banking division, focusing on mining and natural resources. At Citigroup, Adam was involved in a number of M&A and financing transactions. Adam earned an Honors Degree in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in 2006 and he earned the CFA charter in 2011.
Jay joined Anson Funds in mid-2012 to help launch a new fund, Anson Catalyst. Jay mainly advises Anson Catalyst, responsible for investment strategy, idea generation, trading, and overall investment performance. Prior to joining Anson Funds, Jay worked at Toronto-based West Face Capital from January 2008 through May 2012. West Face is one of Canada’s largest hedge funds, specializing in restructurings, high-yield debt, risk arbitrage, privately negotiated financings, and special situation equities. Prior to joining West Face, Jay worked in New York as an analyst at Goldman Sachs, & Co. in the investment banking division, from late 2005 to late 2007. At Goldman Sachs, Jay specialized in leveraged finance, mergers and acquisitions, and municipal derivatives and finance. Jay graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2004 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering.
